"Can't Find Server" Errors

  • If a home user is not dialed directly into Jeffco, he or she can not send via Jeffco's outgoing mail server. The user can try using his ISP's outgoing mail server instead. Users can receive mail via Jeffco's incoming mail server regardless of which ISP is used.
  • Ensure that the Incoming Mail Server is mailin.jeffco.k12.co.us using the instructions on the right hand column here.
  • Ensure that the Outgoing Mail Server is mailout.jeffco.k12.co.us using the instructions in the right hand column here.
  • Ensure that the proxy setting (Click on the Edit menu, choose Preferences, then Proxies under Advanced in all supported versions) is Direct Connection to the Internet.
  • Clear the Cache files (Click on the Edit menu, choose Preferences, then Cache under Advanced in all supported versions) by clicking the buttons to clear disk cache and memory cache.
  • Check IP and DNS settings using the instructions in the center of the left hand column here, under Dialup Connection Instructions. Choose the approprate document based on the user's operating system.
    • To determine which Windows operating system a user is on, right click on My Computer icon and choose Properties.
